NAMM 2010 Day 3 review

Day 3 was different from all the other days.  Even though we didn’t have any interviews, Saturday at NAMM is like no other. First up was a press conference at Marshall with Slash. Slash talked about a new amplifier he is involved with and the session was very short. We then headed over to Fleabass to catch Flea and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) create a rhythm section unlike no other. I was literally stuck right behind Chad Smith, where I could have actually been substituted for a cymbal in his mini drum kit. Security tried to shut down the session but to no avail. So, they decided to clear out the fans that were gathered around the booth. A real bummer for sure, but this was a treat and we were able to get some of this on video for you. After this, we headed to KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer’s booth. There, I was able to have a quick chat and get a photo with him in front of a great backdrop.  His amp line was behind us as he was promoting at the Hughes and Kettner booth. After this, we popped in line to see the beautiful Julianne Hough (Country Music Star and former dancer with Dancing with the Stars).  We couldn’t pass up the opportunity since the booths were right next to each other. After this, we were able to see Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour fame do an acoustic set at the Marshall Amplifier booth. While walking through Ernie Ball, we saw a small conglomerate of people gathered around. None other than Steve Vai was passing through, so I took a quick picture. This took us to the end of the busy day where we watched the new pop sensation Orianthi play to a jam packed lobby. She was very impressive and you will be hearing a lot from her in the future for sure. Here are Saturday’s festivities:
