Corey Taylor, lead vocalist of Slipknot and Stone Sour, recently spent some of his vacation time in Las Vegas this last weekend to do some one off shows for the Hard Rock Hotel. At the same time, a display case dedicated to Taylor was to take place inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino by the entrance to the ‘The Joint.’
As a rock photographer, I felt totally honored that I was contacted for permission to use one of my photos of Corey for use in the display case. This particular shot was taken at the Halloween show, last year at ‘The Pearl,’ where I did a review for backstageaxxess.com.
Saturday evening was Corey's moment in the spotlight as tons of friends, family and fans came out to see him personally induct his display case, complete with four of his jumpsuits and masks from past tours. There was also my live photo of him, though now enlarged and framed. He unveiled the case while conducting an interview about his band, life and friend, Paul Gray, who just recently passed. He got emotional about that and was really emotional about the honor bestowed upon him and Slipknot courtesy of the Hard Rock. It seemed that his whole family was there to cheer him on.
A few hours later, Taylor assumed his position on the stage of the “Wasted Space,” again inside the Hard Rock, as one man and a guitar. He played his heart out to a packed house and told of his musical influences and how they affect his life. He couldn’t help but wear his emotions on his sleeve when he saw how much his fans love him and were there to support him. In return, he offered an eclectic set of music (mostly covers) that he played from his heart. Music is his life and he lives for it. There was no shortage heartfelt moments this evening as He dedicated "Snuff" to his best friend and Slipknot bandmate, Paul Gray, who, as previously mentioned, recently passed away. Paul's wife, who is pregnant, was also in attendance for the induction as well the performance.
Stone Sour will be going on tour very soon promoting Audio Secrecy, slated for a September 7th, 2010 release.
